Celebrating the Strength and Wisdom of Womanhood.
As women, we are remarkable, resilient, and essential to the world’s vitality. Our biology is intricate and powerful, deserving reverence and care, from others, but more importantly, from ourselves.
Reflect for a moment on your journey from childhood to womanhood. Picture yourself at the center of life’s whirlwind, shaped by family, experiences, beliefs, and your own unique perspective. Over time, these influences mold us into nurturers, creators, and givers. As women, we are conditioned to pour our energy into caring for others and striving to keep everything perfectly balanced, often at the expense of our own needs.
Yet in this relentless giving, we sometimes lose sight of our authentic selves: our ambitions, desires, and inner strength. While some women break barriers in leadership, many still struggle to speak their minds, take a stand and prioritize themselves.
Research shows that 80% of autoimmune diseases affect women. Why?
We neglect our physical and emotional well-being, putting others first.
We hesitate to assert ourselves, leading to suppressed emotions, resentment and self-doubt.
We carry the weight of others’ expectations, rarely setting boundaries.
Societal pressures like endless beauty standards, toxic trends, and unrealistic ideals add to the strain.
And these do not negate the other 20% of the women who may develop other illnesses.
This constant overextension drains our energy and weakens our resilience. As we age, our bodies signal to us that it’s time to slow down. This is the start of our Menopausal phase. Hormonal shifts, particularly decline in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone affect everything from memory and focus to muscle mass and stress response. Elevated cortisol levels further exacerbate many unique symptoms women experience including and coupled with various unique menopausal symptoms.
Some women undergo debilitating menopausal symptoms compared to others. The lesser-known symptoms are vaginal dryness, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, constant overwhelm, hair loss, poor gut health and flatulency, poor memory, low vitality, change in texture of skin, decrease in stamina & appetite, changes in taste, frozen shoulder, joint aches, bone density loss that impact the teeth as well. The list can go on because every woman undergoes different symptoms.
Although Menopause is a natural actuality and an inevitable transition, yet each woman’s experience is unique. Rather than resisting this phase, let’s reframe it as an opportunity of liberation from cycles and pregnancy concerns, and a chance to rediscover ourselves. It’s an invitation to prioritize rest, self-compassion, and mindful presence.
Today, women have more options than ever:
Holistic therapies: Lifestyle adjustments, restorative yoga, Ayurveda, Breathwork, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Homeopathy.
Mind-body practices: Guided relaxation, breathwork, and mindfulness to ease hot flashes, improve sleep, and tips to calm an overwhelmed nervous system.
Medical support: Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT/MHT).
Personally, I’ve found profound relief through Ayurveda, yoga, and relaxation techniques. Mindset coaching has also been transformative to me during this time in helping to navigate the challenges of menopause while cultivating a positive and resilient mindset.
It is never too late to take control of your health, unlearn to be selfless and learn to be compassionate towards ourselves. Remember, you are extraordinary. Honour your journey, nurture your spirit, and embrace the wisdom of this season with compassion, confidence and grace.
